The EU/EEA id cards are valid documents and are as good as passports within the European Economic Area. This is what the EU legislation states.
However, it seems that UK officers, bank clerks, employers, basically none of them seem to know that, thus a European citizen with his or her national ID card will never get a job, because the employer’s behaviour.
What should we do? Why cannot the HR staff be TRAINED to know that The EU/EEA id cards are valid documents and are as good as passports within the European Economic Area, and thes MUST NOT insist on a passport?
