Police warn against pressure during cash for honours investigation

Posted in party funding, rule of law by ukliberty on January 20, 2007

Now, when a journalist or politician asks Government Ministers or spokesmen about an ongoing police investigation, the response is usually along the lines of, “I’m unable to comment” or “we’re not going to give a running commentary on an ongoing investigation”.

On the other hand, when the lions are pursuing one of the donkeys, some members of the herd are a bit more keen to, shall we say, express themselves.

In today’s news there are a few articles about the police warning against political pressure, as a result of comments from senior Labour politicians on the arrest of Ruth Turner, an aide to the Prime Minister, in connection with the cash-for-honours investigation.

These include David Blunkett, former Home Secretary – who should know better.
